Bible Study Tip #2: Choose a Book and Stick With It
One Book at a Time — A Simple Way to Stay Consistent in Bible Study
Welcome back to our Bible Study Tips miniseries! If you missed the first post, we talked about starting with your own copy of the Bible — one you can highlight, make notes in, and really make your own. If you've done that already, you’re off to a great start.
Now, let’s talk about Tip #2: Choose a Book.
One of the most common struggles people face when trying to study the Bible is not knowing where to start — or jumping around so much that nothing really sticks. That’s why the second tip in our series is all about focus. Instead of randomly flipping pages or hopping between verses, choose one book of the Bible and commit to it.
It doesn’t matter whether you start in the Old or New Testament. Whether it’s a historical narrative like Ruth, a letter like Philippians, or a poetic book like Psalms — the most important thing is to start.
If you're unsure where to begin, I suggest picking a shorter book to build confidence and get that satisfying feeling of finishing something. Books like James, Titus, or 1 John are great starting points. Completing a book gives you momentum — and that momentum can keep you coming back day after day.
Here’s the beautiful truth: You don’t need a theology degree to study the Bible.
You only need:
yourself
a copy of the Bible
a willing heart.
The Bible is a living book, and God delights in revealing Himself to those who seek Him. One book at a time, He will meet you there.
Let’s keep it simple. Get your Bible, choose a book, and begin.
Hit reply and let me know which book you're starting with! I’d love to hear from you.
